In case of bad weather, the decision to confirm the program or not is always up to the guide. They will inform the guests of the possible changes the evening before the tour. In the morning, the guide will make their decision by evaluating if there are adequate weather conditions to ride safely without excessive risks.
If the tour cannot be taken, H&B will propose its guests some excursions, for some of which an additional extra cost may be required.
This first short tour takes us to Castellina in Chianti, and will give you a taste of the beautiful Tuscan countryside and its charming villages that dot the region. Check to make sure your bike is in the right set up and that everything is working perfectly, and as you admire the beauty of this land, enjoy the ride and take some photos to take home with you.
Overnight stay: Borgo Vescine, Radda in Chianti (SI)
Our first stage takes us straight into the heart of Chianti. In a few kilometers beautiful country roads lead us to Radda, a charming medieval village rich of historic buildings and a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. Then on we reach Gaiole, another picturesque village surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Before returning “home” we stop at Brolio Castle, for a coffee or… a glass of good wine.

Today we will cycle in the Chianti Classico area again. We head north towards Florence to tackle one of the challenging climbs on this tour. An undulating road takes us first to Greve in Chianti and then to Dudda. From here the road climbs and becomes demanding at times, reaching the Morellino pass. A long, very technical descent takes us back to Radda. The last kilometres, if you want, can already be a taste of the Strade Bianche…

Today we start downhill, heading south, towards the Sienese lands. Beyond Monteriggioni, still a few flat kilometers in the typical Tuscan countryside, with some stretches of dirt road. Back on the tarmac, we begin to climb the beautiful provincial road of Maggiano. The long descent, before returning home, takes us almost to the borders of Siena.

Transfer by VAN today, to ride in the “Crete Senesi” region. The landscape here is very different from the vineyards and olive groves of Chianti. Instead, you’ll find a stark and barren beauty, with clay hills that change color throughout the year, going from earthy hues to vibrant yellows and oranges creating a breathtaking visual spectacle. Take your time to admire these lands, while the road will take us up to Piazza del Campo.

From Borgo Vescine we reach Castellina in a few kilometres, and through the Chianti vineyards we continue on the beautiful and isolated provincial road 130 to Poggibonsi. It is not far to San Giminiano and its medieval towers can already be seen on the horizon. We stop here for a rest, because the historic centre of this village is really quite beautiful. We head north, keeping to the Val d’Elsa, almost to Barberino, for our last few kilometers in the Tuscan contryside.
