In case of bad weather, the decision to confirm the program or not is always up to the guide. They will inform the guests of the possible changes the evening before the tour. In the morning, the guide will make their decision by evaluating if there are adequate weather conditions to ride safely without excessive risks.
If the tour cannot be taken, H&B will propose its guests some excursions, for some of which an additional extra cost may be required.
Welcome to Italy! The appointment is at Milan Malpensa airport. Only 30 minutes and we are in Moltrasio, a small village not far from Como.
If we have time we will do a first tour together, easy and short. We need to check that your bike is in perfect condition and that your riding position is suitable. Before dinner, if you feel like it, take a walk by the lake or have an aperitif on the veranda.
Overnight stay: Hotel Posta, Moltrasio (CO).
The first stage of our tour has an easy and almost completely flat route, which leads us to discover the beauty of Lake Como. Initially we cycle along the western shore and, having arrived at Menaggio by ferry, we reach the beautiful village of Varenna, which seems to be painted on the hillside and is reflected in the lake. A few kilometres and we are in Piona, and a visit to the Abbey of the Cistercian Friars is almost a must. A mystical place enveloped in the silence of the lake. But the SPA of our hotel awaits us…
Overnight stay: Agriturismo La Fiorida, Mantello (SO).
Today we start climbing …. and we do it with the most iconic and famous cycling climb: the Stelvio. A few kilometres into the valley to warm up the legs and reach Bormio, where the climb begins. 22 km, 36 hairpin bends, average steep of 7.5%, with sections at 14%, altitude of 2785 metres.
A real challenge to yourself. At the top, however, the satisfaction will be immense.
A short break to recover energy and wear clothes suitable for the long descent to the Val Venosta. We will easily ride the last stretch of this first stage in beautiful mountain scenery. We are now into Dolomites!
In the early part of this, our third stage of the Tour, we still pedal through into the valley towards Bolzano.
After passing the city we start to climb again, at first with slight steeps, which become more and more difficult as we climb towards Nova Levante until we reach and admire the beautiful and unique Lake Carezza, characterised by its magnificent colours. A few more hairpin bends and we are at the summit of the Passo Costalunga. Then it will be downhill only on the way to Vigo di Fassa.
Overnight stay: Active Hotel Olympic, Vigo di Fassa (TN).
Today is ‘tappone’ day. We are in the heart of the Dolomites, and today’s route is here called the ‘Sella Ronda’. It is the classic tour of the four Alpine passes, perhaps the most famous. One after the other, past Canazei, we will face the Sella, Gardena, Campolongo and the legendary Pordoi.
At the top of each pass, awaiting everyone’s arrival, we will have the possibility of a refreshment stop and the necessary change of clothes. The guides will give you the necessary assistance to complete this difficult but fantastic route that will certainly remain in your memory.
Overnight stay: Active Hotel Olympic, Vigo di Fassa (TN).
Today’s stage is quite short, but to get to San Martino we first have to climb three other Alpine passes. Our last Dolomitic passes. First the San Pellegrino, which has some challenging sections but also stretches where you can breathe. Immediately afterwards comes Valles, which will demand more effort in its 6 km length. Finally the Rolle, which on this side is the shortest and least demanding. With a quick descent we soon reach San Martino di Castrozza.
Overnight stay: Hotel Luis, Fiera di Primiero (TN).
This is the last stage of this Tour, and like the Giro d’Italia, it will be a pleasant 70-kilometre ride to pedal all together, taking us to the land where Prosecco is born. There won’t be a finish line, and there won’t even be a winner, but there will certainly be a glass of excellent wine waiting for us all, happy to have completed this beautiful adventure.
Overnight stay: Hotel Villa Soligo, Farra di Soligo (TV).
It’s our last day and after breakfast we say goodbye, hoping to see you soon to ride together again. If you have requested it, our staff will take care of the transfer to the airport. If, on the other hand, you have arrived on your own, our staff will take you back to where we started.
