We start by passing through the city of Nesso, with a quick stop to admire the characteristic “orrido”, a natural valley where two streams, the Tuf and Nosè, meet and create a suggestive waterfall.
The tour takes us on quiet roads with a view of the lake shores on our left.
We arrive in Bellagio, one of the most beautiful and characteristic towns of Lake Como.
After a first stop at Villa Melzi and another for coffee or an Italian cappuccino in a typical café, we load our bikes on the ferry to cross the lake to Tremezzo.
We return to Como riding along 30 kilometres of flat land, where we can admire Villa Carlotta, famous for its botanical garden, enjoyable in every season and for its art collections.
A turn on the right takes us on an easy climb to an historical site which marked the end of World War 2. In April 1945 in Giulino di Mezzegra, Benito Mussolini and his partner Claretta Petacci were captured by partisans right next to the gate of Villa Belmonte, while he was trying to escape by disguising himself as a German soldier.
We continue through Argegno and later we arrive at Villa Oleandra, George Clooney’s lake residence. After a short climb, we arrive at Villa d’Este, a luxury hotel today. Before getting back to Como, we ride past Villa Erba and Villa Olmo.
