After the meeting with H&B guide, we leave for our first ride: just 30 km, on the the Regina state road that runs on the lake shore.
While we are riding we’ll get to know each other, but it’s also time to understand if your bike is all right and it works the way you want. If anything needs to be fixed, ask the guide. Since tomorrow we will get serious…
Lenght: 80 km (50 miles) Riding time: 3.5 – 5 hours Elevation: 1500 mt (4750 feet) Difficulty level 4 (of 5)
Starting from our Hotel we ride past Cernobbio and very soon we reach Moltrasio, with it’s houses perched on the hill. We continue on a lake side road “the 640”, called “Regina” in honor of Teodolinda queen of Longobards from 589 to 616 A.D.
In Argegno and turning to the left, we tackle our first hill of the day. An easy six-kilometer climb to get to Schignano. After a few kilometers of gentle slopes, we start riding up to Erbonne, a village from the pre-roman age, which still has 7 residents today.
Then, some kilometers to arrive at Pigra. From here we can enjoy another beautiful panorama.
A long descent will take us back to Argegno and we go back to Como following the same route.
Length: 80 km (50 miles) Riding time: 3.45 – 4.15 hours Elevation: 1350 mt (4429 feet) Difficulty level 3 (out of 5)
Waiting for the GF Lombardia, today we’ll save our legs and energy for tomorrow, so our average speed has to be under control. But let’s go to check out the climb that leads to the entrance to the Wall. It is very important to perfectly memorize the road, the bends and its slopes to better face the most difficult part of the tomorrow race.
Leaving our hotel, a road that is not without difficulty leads us to cross the “Larian triangle” to Canzo, where the real ascent to the Colma climb begins, the most difficult section that we will face tomorrow. Just few tens of meters to “taste” the Muro, then we come back down to Sormano and with a slight detour we ride alongside of the Segrino lake. A little further on we can admire the small lakes of Pusiano and Annone. Few kilometers again and after passing another small lake, that of Alserio, we arrive in Cantù, where we will find our race packs. A short stop for a snack and a drink and then running towards our Hotel.
Length: 111.2 km (69 miles) Riding time: 4.45 – 5.30 hours Elevation: 1700 mt (5578 feet) Difficulty level 5 (out of 5)
